Highlights & annotate

Draw attention to key insights in your chart with text, arrows, highlights, and more.
Whether you’re comparing values, calling out a change, or guiding your audience’s focus — annotations help turn charts into stories.

✅ How to add annotations

Open the Annotate section in the right-hand toolbar. You’ll see two groups of tools:

✏️ Call-outs

Add visual explanations or context to your chart:

  • Text → Place a short label or note anywhere on the chart

  • Arrow → Point to a specific bar, line, or data point

  • Box → Add a background box behind a group of values, categories, or time range

  • Difference arrows → Automatically show the change between two values (e.g. “+12%”)

🖍 Highlight

  • Select Highlight to emphasize a specific series — like one bar, line, or column

  • All other series are visually muted so your focus area stands out

  • Works great for comparisons or walking someone through one trend at a time

🎯 Use for

  • Calling out spikes, drops, or trends

  • Emphasizing key series or time periods

  • Adding context or narrative directly into the chart

💡 Tips

  • Use Difference Arrows to highlight movement, growth, or gaps

  • Boxes are perfect for ranges (e.g. “launch period”, “holiday season”)

  • Combine with headline numbers and captions for high-impact storytelling
